Switching From TurboTax Online to TurboTax Cd/download

To transition from TurboTax CD/Download to TurboTax Online, follow these steps. Here's how to switch from TurboTax Online to TurboTax CD/Download if you started your 2022 return in TurboTax Online.

  • As a tax data file, save your online return.
  • Close TurboTax Online and log out.
  • Install or download TurboTax 2021.
    • If you have not purchased TurboTax Desktop Software choose the product you need to complete your refund.
    • Useful: If your return contains a state, make sure you install the state program(s) as well; otherwise, you'll get Error 539.
  • Select File then Open Tax Return in the software after it has been installed.
  • Select yours.tax2021 file from the location where you stored it, then selects Open.
  • If you receive an error, remove your tax data file and begin the process again.

Optional: You can clear your online return once you've validated that it opens properly in the software.
