Let me share with you. You see, no words can describe how much of a blessing it was to find a place for my Mom who was so young and still very social when she got her diagnosis. In Russia it was terrible until 2015, when a rear-admiral in Moscow who was suffering with a terminal disease committed suicide. In his suicide note he explained his decision stating that his physician denied his request for morphine. It was the time when the medical professionals’ fear to prescribe opiates/opioids reached the climax. The police could cast doubt on the doctor's decision about prescribing potent pain medications (i.e. tramadol) to patients with cancer. Even worse things took place. Even though it is no longer the police's business to interfere with the doctor's professional opinion, I still haven't heard of things like "palliative service"; it all sounds like a good science fiction to me. Perhaps, on another planet, like Moscow, such things do exist, I don't know.
