He was also the owner of a newspaper, a shopkeeper, a soldier, and a politician (this one you probably knew). He was also the guy who started the first lending library in America, the first post office to deliver to homes, and he wrote almanacs. And he helped start a hospital, a free academy, a fire department...the list goes on and on.

Okay, so what does this have to do with you and me? Well, let me ask you this.....how many times have you started something in your life? Have you always succeeded? Probably not! Do you think Ben Franklin succeeded at everything the first time too? Probably NOT! In fact, he was often laughed at by his peers and hissed at by nay-sayers. Are you starting to see the connection?Just like Ben Franklin, I have many things that I AM and none of them happened as overnight successes. I had to work hard and push aside the dream stealers and nay-sayers.

For example, when I told my family I was going to get a Master's Degree they told me as a single mom working full time that there was NO WAY I could possibly get a degree of that caliber. In fact, they tried many times to hold me back with limiting beliefs about how NO ONE in either of their families had ever gone for a Master's Degree. I did it anyway just like Ben Franklin harnessed lightening out of the sky. No one had ever done that before, but it didn't stop him and now we use electricity every waking moment (and even some sleeping ones).
