Firstly, you should make sure that you have the latest version of QuickBooks before performing the troubleshooting steps. If you do not already have the latest version, update it and if the issue persists, perform the following solutions in the given order:

Solution 1: Use QuickBooks File Doctor tool

• Download and install QuickBooks File Doctor (if you don’t already have it) from the official website of Intuit.
• Log in with admin rights and run the tool.
• Select “Both File Damage and Connectivity,” the first option of the two that you receive to identify the damaged file.
• Enter your administrator password on being prompted.
• Next, select the location of the company file. If the file is on the server, click “yes,” otherwise, click “No.”
• Select “Proceed.”

 

Solution 2: Fix the file mismatch

Perform this step on the system the company file is stored on. Next, rename the .ND and TLG files to repair the damaged data files.

• Go to the company folder.
• Search for the company file. The .TLG file and company file will have the same name but different extensions.

  • qbw.tlg
• Rename the company file by adding “old” at the end of the file name. Don’t delete or change extension or “nd” at the end of the company file.
• Next, rename the transaction log and click “Exit.”
• Open QuickBooks and see if the issue is fixed.

 

Solution 3: Use QuickBooks in single-user mode

• Restart the computer and copy data file to the desktop or any easily accessible location other than its source.
• Copy the data file once again to its original location.
• Sign into QuickBooks and open the file.
