Using a Path to Deform an Object Generally, you use the PathDeform modifier when you want to keep an object in place while deforming to a path. Use the PathDeform world-space modifier when you want to move an object to a path while keeping the path in the same world space.

TurboSplines is a 3dsMax script for creating multiple spline wrapping animations (aka. path deform animations) incredibly fast. As @Cascho01 said check out the MegaFiers system since it has the Path Deform Modifier in that that works exactly as it does in Max. The system also includes a spline system and has an exporter for Max, Maya and Blender that can export splines including animated splines which can be imported into Unity and used with the Path Deform modifier. Another way is to make a torus knot object (Control Panel > Extended Primitives) and extract one of its edge loops to use just a single spline as the path. But the better and easier way to get a cool path for this, is using Spiros script. It's as simple as creating any primitive shape in 3dsmax. The one in this tutorial was made with that script.
