NVivo is software that supports qualitative and mixed methods research. This workshop will start with an in-depth introduction to capabilities of the software including navigating the overall interface; running visualizations and queries, and incorporating categorical data. NVivo does not prescribe an approach but provides the tools to let you work the way that suits you best. For example, if you have large dataset sources—make the most of NVivo's auto coding feature. If you have a smaller number of sources that require close analysis—take advantage of the easy-to-use manual coding tools. NVivo Plus can find and automatically code the themes in your research material and, if you're working in English, the latest update streamlines the process even further. NVivo will now merge sub-themes with stemmed forms (catching fish, fish catching, catch fish) so that you end-up with a tidy, more manageable list of themes. The NVivo Help provides comprehensive instructions for using NVivo, and the Help welcome page contains links to other useful resources, including: • NVivo tutorials—see the software in action • The QSR Forum—ask questions and share your experiences • FAQs—find answers to common questions Pros: - This is a sophisticated Quality Data Analysis program which provide a wide range of functionalities and supports that make researcher's life easier. - NVivo supports many inputs including text, PDF, survey, audio, video and graphical files. - It has a lot of built-in functions for coding, retrieving, analyzing, visualizing and exporting.
