There are three types of insomnia based on the duration  Nutri Sleep of the condition. Insomnia that lasts for less than one week is called transient insomnia and is usually caused by a disruption in the normal sleeping pattern from jetlag, changes in the sleeping environment, or emotional factors such as stress from losing a job. Some medical conditions can also contribute to the appearance of transient insomnia.

Symptoms that last for one to three weeks are called short-term insomnia. Stress, worry or other emotional factors are usually the most common cause of this type of insomnia. If symptoms last more than three weeks, they are classified as chronic insomnia. The cause of this type of insomnia typically involves chronic medical illnesses or biological and lifestyle factors.

When dealing with insomnia, the first thing to do is to accurately point out what exactly causes it and then define a cure that will rightfully eliminate it. Insomnia treatments may involve behavioral and lifestyle changes or even medical, depending on the condition of the patient. Generally, an advice to get rid of insomnia involves relaxation and winding down the body.

Breathing exercises and maintaining a positive attitude are all attributed for getting rid of insomnia. Some conditions may also be prescribed with drugs to induce sleep. Antidepressants, non-benzodiazepines and ramelteon (rozerem) are primarily used to cure short-term insomnia. Other treatments include herbal medicine.
