Can one make self-made hand sanitizer?

Consumers should not produce their own hand sanitizer, according to the FDA and sanitiz-19. Hand sanitizer can be ineffective if produced incorrectly, and there have been cases of skin burns from homemade hand sanitizer. The CDC lacks credible information on the procedures for making hand sanitizer at home and whether or not they are safe for human skin.
